I think 2017 was a great year.
Jan. 1, 2017 midnight…I was on FaceTime with Shi and she was half asleep and I was on the couch. We said “Happy New Year” had a virtual kiss and then we hung up. I vowed to never have another NYE without her.
That morning, 10:45 a.m., I was sitting in church, thanking God for what 2016 was and praying 2017 would be “a great year”. I was looking forward to May because Shi was graduation, July because it would be our one year anniversary and December because I was graduating.
I’m not going to go into specifics, but I had ups and downs throughout the year.
I gave up on a couple of friendships, which was for the best because once conversations turn into gossip and nothing of substance, you have to let them go. I rekindled some friendships and became close with a couple of people who were once just colleagues .
In the beginning of the year, I was super consistent with my gym schedule, but once my last semester of school came…THAT WAS OUT OF THE WINDOW. So I gained weight.
As all relationships do…we had our highs and lows. But for every low, we came back stronger than ever. Also, she’s taught me so much about self love and she is my biggest supporter and vice versa. We both had some rough times in our life, outside of the relationship, and because we were there for each other…it made us stronger.
After 16 months, I finally graduated with my degree in journalism! *audience cheering* Thanks. This year of school was very tough and I do have PTSD, but I graduated an award-winning journalist so there’s that.
2017 was the year of getting the bag. I was able to score four part-time jobs. All of which mean so much to me and I love them in their own unique way.
I decided to go bald. Well I was rocking a dark caesar for all of two months before my hair started growing out of control.
I may be forgetting things, but those are some of the highlights.
Let’s just say I was able to bring in 2018 with the love of my life right next to me and I finally got my New Year’s smooch, so hey there’s a great start already. 2017 was pretty good, now I’m ready for this new year.
